Candle Care

We want you to enjoy your Jo Hannah candle.  To get the very best out of it please take time to follow our six step guide and we will sleep easy knowing our candle is in safe hands!

1. Keep away from draughts

When you receive your candle, unpack it carefully and place it in a draught free space, away from flammable objects.  You may notice some tiny hairline cracks on the surface of your candle.  This is nothing to worry about, it's the nature of natural vegetable based wax and the cracks will not affect the candles performance.

2. Minimise the chance of tunnelling

When first lighting your candle, burn for a maximum of four hours, or until the melted wax reaches the edge of the jar.  Believe it or not wax has a memory, and if you don't burn for four hours, or until a full melt pool is reached, your candle may tunnel.

3. Always snuff, never blow

Always use a candle snuffer or a lid to extinguish the flame and keep the melt pool free of debris.

Don't worry if some wax clings to the side of the jar, as your candle burns further down, it will melt and release the fragrance. Let your candle wax cool and harden before lighting your candle again

4. Embrace the nature of natural wax

When your candle wax settles you may notice it is uneven and sometimes even has little pits.  Once again this is the character of natural wax and nothing to worry about.  We don't use any additives or synthetic scent enhancers and this is the wax in its natural state.

5. Always trim your wick

Trim the wick to 5mm after every burn. This will help to stop the build up of carbon on the wick ensuring a clean and even burn. Burn your candle for a minimum of two and up to a maximum of four hours.

6. Know when to say goodbye

Once the wax level is around 1cm, it is time to say goodbye to your candle. Wash out your jar and use it around the home. It makes a stylish pencil pot or make up brush holder, the list is endless. We love to grow windowsill herbs in ours.

We really hope you enjoy your candle and, would love to see it in your home.  Take a picture and tag and share on Face Book or Instagram.  We really love to get feedback pop on over and give us your thoughts at hello@johannahhomefragrance.com
